Pharmalys was pleased to participate in the CEPI Collaboration Networking Meeting, held in Cape Town from 15–18 June, bringing together global partners committed to strengthening epidemic preparedness and clinical research capacity. Representing Pharmalys was Jeanette, Laboratory Solutions and GCLP Team Lead, who attended the meeting as an invited speaker and contributed to discussions on quality and laboratory excellence.
A key highlight of the meeting was the growing collaboration between CEPI’s Clinical Laboratory Network (CLN) and the Preclinical Network, facilitating the important step towards better aligning early-stage research with clinical trial readiness. This integrated approach will help improve efficiency, standardisation and global responsiveness during future outbreaks.
The meeting also highlighted CEPI’s continued investment in strengthening CLN laboratories through Good Clinical Laboratory Practice (GCLP) accreditation, reinforcing the importance of robust quality systems and ensuring that laboratory data generated across the network are reliable, comparable and internationally accepted.
Jeanette was honoured to participate as an invited speaker during the Quality session on 16 June, where she presented “Building Quality that Reaches Everyone”.
Her presentation explored:
- Four Focus Pillars for a Competitive African Clinical Trial Ecosystem
- Foundations of a Quality Management System
- One Clinical Trial, Four Pillars of Quality
- Designing a Laboratory: Quality Is Not Defined by Size
- GCLP Compliance Drives Global Harmonisation of Clinical Trial Laboratories
- Introduction to Pharmalys Ltd

The presentation also highlighted Pharmalys’ stewardship of the internationally recognised GCLP accreditation programme. Following the vision and leadership of Tim Stiles, who entrusted Pharmalys with continuing and expanding the programme, Pharmalys has built on this strong foundation to provide independent GCLP accreditation services to clinical research laboratories worldwide. Today, GCLP-accredited laboratories supported by Pharmalys are located across four continents, reflecting the programme’s global reach and its contribution to strengthening high-quality clinical research. Reflecting on the meeting, Jeanette commented:
“Participating in the Quality Session provided a valuable opportunity to contribute to this important dialogue and to reaffirm that quality, when designed to reach everyone, is a cornerstone of resilient and effective clinical research systems.”

The meeting reinforced the importance of building connected, quality-driven systems that span the full research continuum. The collaboration between CEPI networks demonstrates how strategic alignment can enhance efficiency, improve data reliability and ultimately strengthen global health security.
Pharmalys is proud to support organisations around the world in implementing quality systems that meet internationally recognised standards and looks forward to continuing its collaboration with partners working to strengthen clinical research capacity across the globe.
Thank you to CEPI and all partners for an engaging and forward-looking meeting.
