On 26 June 2025, the Mastercard Foundation held a networking event for employers and associates at Noom Hotel in Dakar, Senegal. The event marked the end of the programme’s final evaluation phase and brought together associates, line managers, and stakeholders to review progress and outcomes.
Pharmalys was represented by two line managers, HR Manager Alimatou Sylla and Finance Officer Amadou Niasse, along with nine associates from the Mastercard Foundation programme. The event was also attended by representatives from the Mastercard Foundation, LEAP Africa, and Kinaya Ventures.
Line managers discussed the development of their associates, highlighting how the programme had supported their professional growth. Alimatou spoke on behalf of Pharmalys’ line managers, noting the value of mentorship and practical experience in helping shape the career paths of the interns.
HR Assistant Abra and CR Associate Mamadou shared their experiences, outlining their responsibilities, challenges, and key lessons learned during the programme. A panel discussion on youth employability and workplace skills provided further insights and practical advice.
HR Assistant Sambry described the event as a useful opportunity to exchange experiences and reflect on how the programme has supported personal and professional development. He spoke about the technical and interpersonal skills gained and how these have improved his confidence and employability. Sambry also noted the importance of meeting associates from other organisations and receiving constructive feedback from managers and partners.
“This was my first time attending such an event,” he said. “It helped me learn more about myself and the professional world.” Sambry left feeling more focused and motivated – views shared by several attendees.
The day concluded with a lunch and informal networking session. For Pharmalys, it was an opportunity to recognise the efforts of its associates and reaffirm its commitment to supporting early-career professionals through internships, mentorship, and training.
Through its involvement in the Mastercard Foundation Programme, Pharmalys continues to contribute to workforce development and invest in the next generation of professionals. Learn more about training efforts and initiatives at Pharmalys here.
